Szent & Company in Larchmont has sent me details of its summer sale — and it’s all about pampering.
Barbara Truesdale and Janet Robinson have some great suggestions for yourself, for hostess gifts… you name it.
Here are just a few ideas: Read more of this entry »

I decided to take a quick drive over to Port Chester, since I had heard that one of my go-to shops for frames, fantastic stationery and all kinds of art supplies was moving.
No need to panic, though, since A.I. Friedman is indeed moving but just a few doors down in the same plaza. Read more of this entry »

Have you ever tried to make a gift basket for someone?
I have — and while you think it will be easy, that’s not always the case.
Sometimes they come together and sometimes you just get the sense that something’s “missing,” that it’s just not all that cohesive.
Well, Sandy Pizzuto seems to know the secret — Read more of this entry »

I checked in with Milieu this past week.
I’ve written about Danielle Iaboni’s shop several times before. She has been offering all kinds of home-decorating items, from large furniture to smaller gift items, with a focus on European finds.
Well, I found out that there’s been a bit of a shift — Milieu is now offering primarily goods from Indonesia, particularly Bali.
Sounds interesting, and I’m looking forward to stopping by.
Have you been? Milieu is at 157 Mamaroneck Ave. in Mamaroneck. Call 914-315-6090.

It was back in April when I met Elka Raved and wrote a story about the Larchmont woman and her jewelry company.
Frustrated by her young daughter losing her earrings, she thought that it would be cool to be able to buy earrings in “3s,” always having a spare on hand.
Well, Raved did more than just think — Read more of this entry »

I didn’t get a chance to post a few of my photos that I took the other day when I met with Andrew Poma Jr.
He’s nearing the completion of quite a transformation — carving Old World Food Market out of a onetime car dealership on Route 59 in Nyack.

If you’re a music fan, a Yankees fan (or both), you might want to head to Borders in Mount Kisco tonight.
Bernie Williams is set to appear, promoting his new release, “Moving Forward.”
My friend and colleague Jorge Fitz-Gibbon beat me to writing up the details, so I’ll just link you to his music blog, The Listening Room.
Sounds like a fun evening.
