Kicking off my weekend in style tonight, combining some shopping research with some plain ol’ shopping.
I’m headed up to the Anne Koplik Designs warehouse sale — which I wrote about last month.
The sale is a two-weekend event; I was away for its first weekend, so will be going up to Brewster to check it out later today.
I posted about it as part of this advance of the first weekend, so click through for details and photos.
But again, the sale runs from 5:30 to 9 tonight and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow.
The company’s at 173 Main St. in Brewster.
Call 845-279-8244.

I have a longtime friend who is a fiend for marshmallows.
And one of my sisters has taken to buying him any “novelty” marshmallow treat she comes across.
This time, I think she has truly topped herself — scoring points for both originality and frugality.
Drumroll, please….

I’ve gotten word from Janet Robinson – who, along with Barbara Truesdale, owns Szent & Company in Larchmont – the shop has just expanded its offerings.
I can still remember what a fun time I had when I visited them in early April.
The store, if you remember, specializes in essential oils and related products, all sold within a vintage apothecary setting.
Anyway, Robinson tells me that Szent & Company is now featuring reed diffusers in four scents.
Amor, translated as love, is a jasmine-based scent. Sereno, said to bring calm, is orange based. Novo, or new, is a refreshing mix of “green.” And Caleo, to be warmed, is based on patchouli, rose and vanilla.
Going to be tough deciding which one to pick!
Stop by and check them out at 1969 Palmer Ave. Call 914-834-1515.

My friend and colleague Heather Salerno recently wrote a profile of Kathleen McFeeters.
The Chappaqua woman is president and CEO for Donna Morgan, LLC, a fashion company.
This weekend, you can meet McFeeters in person, when she offers a trunk show in her hometown.

Of the books that have come across my desk recently, I began to realize at least a few of them had a theme going.
And it’s nostalgia.
And if you know me, you know I’m loving that.
The books are different in topic, to be sure, but they each serve to put a spotlight on a different way of life.

As you can imagine, we’re flooded with press releases and bids for coverage of gift ideas for Mother’s Day.
My colleague Ted Mann passed along one such release, which I’d like to pass along to you.
Pookie & Bella is a Valley Cottage-based creator of gift baskets, many of which seem pretty ideal for Mother’s Day gifts.
Spend some time on the Web site, and you just might find the perfect one.
The company’s at 491 Kings Highway. Call them at 845-290-5205.
