A gem of a promotion

Barry Fixler, who owns Barry’s Estate Jewelry in Bardonia, has shared the details of his Valentine’s Day promotion.

Starting Sunday and continuing through Valentine’s Day, 10 percent of the cost of any jewelry purchased will be donated to the “Wounded Warriors”:http://hopeforthewarriors.org fund.

The organization is designed to enhance the quality of life for American service members who have been seriously wounded in the line of duty, while also working to improve the lives of their families. In particular, Fixler was telling me about a special project, the Wounded Warriors barracks at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and all it does for these men and women whose tours of duty ended early because of injury and how it offers a haven for their families.

This isn’t the first time Fixler has run a benefit event. Last year, the Vietnam veteran raised funds to help Sergeant Eddie Ryan, a fellow Marine from Ellenville, N.Y., who was injured in Iraq.

Barry’s Estate Jewelry is at 295 Route 304. Call 845-624-7100.
