Mary Shustack shops around

Words to live by?

March
9

As I’ve touched on many times before, it’s an ongoing battle to balance a love of shopping with the desire to have enough but not too much.

I read a lot about clutter, about impulse buys, etc., with most things always going over the same dull points.

But I was flipping through the March issue of “Glamour”:http://glamour.com magazine when I read a short piece that really struck me as something to take to heart. Maybe it was just the way they presented a key point.

In a story on “5 things designers know that you should too,” which touched on topics ranging from “the perfect fit” to the very essence of style, one point was devoted to the idea of being a ruthless editor.

And this paragraph hit home: “The most stylish women rarely have the biggest closets. Shop often, but buy sparingly. You’ll end up with only things you feel fabulous in.”

Now wouldn’t that be a great feeling!

I’m taking the approach to heart, especially since it encourages you to “shop often.”

I like the sound of that!
