Mary Shustack shops around

They cost how much?

I’ve been telling you the past few days about a story I’m working on that focuses on sprucing up your home for spring.

It’s been a lot of fun to put together — especially since it’s included a lot of shopping time.

And one of the bonuses of being on the road so much is getting back to towns I haven’t been to in awhile.

That’s why I was in Mohegan Lake earlier today, stopping by the Cortlandt Town Center in search of home accents.

But before I turned my attention to that, I stopped by the Old Navy.

Browsed a bit before hitting the clearance section. I’ve had some major scores in Old Navy clearance racks in the past — most recently with a great gray hooded sweater marked down to just $6.99.

Well, that now seems like an extravagance compared to what I found here — a classic pair of pinstriped pants.

You know the kind, menswear-inspired but definitely shaped for a woman.

And the fabric was lightweight enough to probably be worn all year.

Then, the test. Would they fit?

Oh, they did.

So I proudly carried the pants to the register to pay…

Yes, you’re reading that right — $32.50 marked down, a few times, to $1.97.

Now, you know these pants have a new name. They will forever be known as “the $1.97 pants.”

Can’t wait to wear them.

Do you have an item of clothing that’s “named” for its price? Love to hear about it!
