Mary Shustack shops around

Follow the balloons

Star-shaped purple balloons lead the way to Wishes, the gift boutique in Yorktown Heights that I visited this morning.

I had first stopped by the shop back in February, when owners Debbie Zapakin and Lori Weil invited me up to see the business they had begun just two months earlier.

The shop is filled with all kinds of gift items, ranging from items for the home (platters, candles, pillows, etc.) to more personal things including jewelry, bags, soaps and hair accessories.

Now, Zapakin and Weil have kicked off Wishes’ first summer sale.

As you can see, the discounts are definitely there.

Here’s just a sampling of what’s on offer; items with color-coded dots are part of the sale.

The shop is, as most are, making way for the new fall merchandise. New items will be arriving all the time, following buying trips to trade shows and the like.

Here’s just a glimpse of some of the new home accents that have already been unveiled:

I just love kitchen items with the rooster motif — so classic.

Check out the sale, which continues through Aug. 11, and let me know the great deals you find.

Wishes, at 315 Kear St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Call 914-962-9474.
