You certainly know how much I love a bargain.
My story today — have you seen it? — is all about finding some pretty great bargains in our area.
It’s a look at warehouse sales, when companies that the rest of the year sell wholesale open their doors and allow the public in.
I was back up at Casafina this morning, taping a segment for our collaboration with RNN television. Hoping that will run on Thursday as the home-and-garden segment on Hudson Valley’s NewsCenter Now. Tune in from 5 to 7 p.m.
I’ve already filled my appointment book with some of the sales I wrote about.
Hope you do the same — and let me know what great things you snag.

Have you heard the Maria Luisa Boutique in Nyack is moving its satellite — ML Gifts & Accessories — to a new spot?
If not, you’re in luck, since the moving sale has been extended.
Bargain-hunters can check out the final days at 6 S. Broadway from noon to 3 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow. (All sales are final).
After that, you’ll have to hold on — but not too long.
The revamped ML Gifts & Accessories is set to debut next Saturday (April 5), with opening-day hours of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The new spot is just down the road, at 75 S. Broadway. Can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like.
Stay tuned to the Maria Luisa site for the latest details — or to sign up for the shop’s newsletter.

Time flies, as they say.
I just looked into our archives to see when it was that I interviewed Sue Whitney and Ki Nassauer, and it was back in 2005.
The Minnesota-based ladies — who have made a name (“Junkmasters”) for themselves by repurposing what they delightfully call junk — were coming to Manhattan to participate in “Be Creative! New York.”
The Central Park event from County Home magazine was a day filled with seminars and demonstrations from “lifestyle experts” that also included Rachel Ashwell and Katie Brown.
It was all devoted to exploring style, both personal and in home decorating.

Edna Krausz gave me quite the tour of her 14-year-old shop in New Rochelle this morning.
It’s called Inspiration Gallery and specializes, as its sign says, in “music, invitations, Judaica and books.”

As Krausz told me, the shop always puts the spotlight on the current season and/or holiday, while also offering gift ideas and home accessories for the rest of the year.

I can still remember a trip I took last spring up to check out the revamped gift shop at Boscobel.
I had such a lovely time and saw such lovely things.
Because of that, I’m happy to pass along the following information — Boscobel’s Museum Shop is about to open for this season, with a sale set to mark the occasion.
The shop, of course, follows along as the Federal-style house museum and gardens also open for the season Saturday.
To celebrate, a sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through April 6 (excluding April 1).
Selected items, including jewelry, china, lamps, scarves, bags, garden accessories and gifts, will be discounted at up to 50 percent.
New merchandise selected just for spring will also be making its debut.
I’m hoping to get up there soon — let me know if you go and what you find.
The shop is on the Boscobel grounds, off Route 9D in Garrison.
For more details, call 845-265-3638, Ext. 115.

I’ve not yet had the chance to check out Szent & Company, which opened earlier this month in Larchmont — but I’m hearing some really good things.
Just wondering if you’ve been yet?
The shop, the collaboration between business partners Janet Robinson and Barbara Truesdale, sells perfume oils and essential oils.
They can be applied directly to the body or put into the shop’s line of unscented hair and body products for a custom creation.
The shop was designed to look like an old apothecary, as these photos sent to me by Robinson show:

But there’s also a “bar area,” where customers, Robinson says, are encouraged “to relax and smell all of our wonderful oils.”
I’m planning to go in another week or so, hopefully to feature it as part of our “shop of the week” series.
In the mean time, stop by — it’s open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 1969 Palmer Ave.
Call 914-834-1515.

Do you do anything special to welcome spring?
The Outside in Piermont, a shop I’ve written about before, has sent an update on some upcoming events being held to celebrate the spring equinox.
There will be a Mandala exhibit by Jon Davis that opens this week and runs through the end of April. An opening reception will be from 3 to 5 p.m. March 30.
In addition, there will be an Equinox Meditation tonight.
The “guided experience,” led by Donna Hickey, will start at 7 p.m. The cost is $10.
For more details on these, and other scheduled events, call The Outside in Piermont at 845-398-0706.
(The shop is at 249 Ferdon Ave.)

If bargain-hunting is your thing, have I got a tip for you.
This morning, I got a sneak-peek of the next Casafina warehouse sale, to be held in Brewster the week after next.
That was the highlight of a visit that included a few interviews and a tour of the incredibly large space — we’re talking some 26,000 square feet in an office park off I-684. Who knew?
I was there to gather background for a story I’m working on for the Life & Style section of The Journal News and LoHud.com.
It’s all about warehouse sales — what they are, what you’ll find and when some of the best local ones are being held.

My dark-and-wintery outfit got a “time-to-go” tap this morning when I stopped by March.
I was checking back in with Lynn Puro and her Briarcliff Manor boutique, where winter has already left the building and it’s all about spring fashions, styles and hues:

Even those who don’t closely follow sports couldn’t have missed how actor/comic Billy Crystal made a spring-training splash with his beloved New York Yankees this week.
I was thinking of how excited he must have been when I was wandering around Fanwear this morning.
The shop, in Bedford Hills, is jam-packed with not only Yankees, Mets and all kinds of other baseball apparel and related accessories, but officially licensed merchandise from all the pro sports (football, hockey, basketball).
I’m putting the spotlight on Fanwear in my new “Shop of the Week” feature this coming Thursday, but here’s a sneak peek.
