I have written a story to advance this weekend’s Larchmont Antique and Collectibles Show, which will have its 14th edition Saturday and Sunday at Mamaroneck High School.
It’s one of my favorite shows to shop, since there are all kinds of dealers showing lots of what I love (vintage jewelry, postcards, vases and other “smalls.”).
I’d also have to say I’ve always found it quite affordable.
Check out tomorrow’s paper — and LoHud.com — for the full story.
But briefly, there will be 45 dealers showing their wares from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. There will also be free verbal appraisals all day Sunday (only). The show admission is $5. The high school is at 1000 W. Boston Post Road. For details, call 914-723-6989.
This show is always a bit of a signal to me, as well.
Sure, it’s an indoor show but it’s not in the “deep” winter, so heading out to this one reminds me that the spring/summer outdoor season is coming soon.
I’ve been starting to keep track of some other shows coming up, already marking my calendar for a few favorites.
I recently spoke to Peter Fallon. I usually run into him and his wife, Jenny, at the Larchmont show — they set up a booth in the hallway right off the gym.
But they also run their own shows, which are always strong — their next will be June 8 at the Chappaqua train station.
And of course, there’s the Stormville Airport Antique Show & Flea Market.
The 2008 show dates for this Hudson Valley institution have also been released:
It all kicks off April 27 with “Springtime in the Country.”
The regular season then continues with two-day editions — the strongest shows — May 24 and 25, July 5 and 6, Aug. 30 and 31 and Oct. 11 and 12.
Other single-day events are “Summertime in the Country” on Aug. 3 and ” Christmas in November” on Nov. 2.
Check out the Stormville Web site, a relatively new feature, for complete details.
See you at Larchmont this weekend — and at all the outdoor shows in coming months.
I can’t wait — can you?
