Mary Shustack shops around

An egg made of … stone

I got a little souvenir from the Architectural Digest Home Design Show that I attended yesterday on Pier 94 in Manhattan:

It was a very real part of the marketing being done by a new local company, John Stone Fixtures.

Victoria Gable, one of the Piermont-based company’s partners, gave it to me to demonstrate their products, which are hand-carved stone basins and pedestals imported from China.

The company is hoping to tap into that growing consumer demand for more natural products, while offering a very sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

Take a look at some of their products — and check out the site.

Right now, they are working primarily as a wholesale company but stay tuned.

A few booths away, also happened upon another local company, Window Modes, which designs and manufactures motorized window blinds.

The company, based in Mount Vernon, primarily works with architects and designers.

Here’s a quick shot of the booth:

Check back in a bit for more local highlights from the show.
