Marching back to March

March
18

My dark-and-wintery outfit got a “time-to-go” tap this morning when I stopped by March.

I was checking back in with Lynn Puro and her Briarcliff Manor boutique, where winter has already left the building and it’s all about spring fashions, styles and hues:

As always, the shop sets a warm welcome with a “featured outfit” right outside the front door:

That lovely blue scarf was the first glimpse into what was ahead.

When asked about spring trends — I was visiting to write up March as my “Shop of the Week” for next week — Puro told me it’s all about color.

And even the quickest looks around proved that to be true. Spring merchandise continues to arrive, bringing bursts of vivid orange and pale greens, bright reds and floral prints:

As Puro said, even those of us who prefer the darker tones can always liven things up with a great bag, belt or piece of jewelry.

“It’s all about accessories that can completely make an outfit,” she said, pointing to this simple skirt that’s turned into quite a stylish look thanks to a belt, necklaces, etc.:

Puro travels all over, bringing NYC designers to a new audience, featuring brands from around the country not usually found up here and most recently, going to Paris and bringing back jewelry and fashions from some designers that really caught her eye.

Puro has a great eye for display, as well. Just look at these little vignettes and outfits she’s pulled together, which really reflect the shop’s feel:

And finally, this Laila dress, a study in silk and texture that simply deserves a special moment. Isn’t it just lovely?

We hope to run the story March 27, just in advance of the shop’s “Spring Awakening” weekend of special events.

March is at 1250 Pleasantville Road. Call 914-923-2100.
