Bargains in Brewster

March

If bargain-hunting is your thing, have I got a tip for you.

This morning, I got a sneak-peek of the next Casafina warehouse sale, to be held in Brewster the week after next.

That was the highlight of a visit that included a few interviews and a tour of the incredibly large space — we’re talking some 26,000 square feet in an office park off I-684. Who knew?

I was there to gather background for a story I’m working on for the Life & Style section of The Journal News and LoHud.com.

It’s all about warehouse sales — what they are, what you’ll find and when some of the best local ones are being held.

Casafina, as you probably know, is the longtime tabletop and gift company run by Samuel and Donna Smith.

The husband-and-wife team took over the business some 20 years ago, turning it into a major importer/wholesaler of European dinnerware, service pieces and more.

A few times a year, the company holds sales that offer overstocks and slightly imperfect wares at 50 to 80 percent off retail price, along with plenty of merchandise brought in just for the sale.

As Samuel Smith explained to me, they have containers coming over from Europe and India all the time, so they’re happy to fill them with additional treasures — from jewelry to furniture to garden ornaments — found on their travels.

Anyway, the sale area is still being set up, but here’s a quick glimpse into what you’ll soon find:

Pretty nice, huh? And wait til you see the prices.

Again, check back for my full story — but in the mean time, here are the details so you can mark your calendar.

No question to the sale dates, right?

But just to be sure… The next Casafina Warehouse Sale will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 2 to 5 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 6.

It all happens right at Casafina, on Fields Lane in Brewster (easily accessible from exit 8 of I-684). For more details, visit the company Web site or call 845-277-5700.
