Mary Shustack shops around

For every season

March

Edna Krausz gave me quite the tour of her 14-year-old shop in New Rochelle this morning.

It’s called Inspiration Gallery and specializes, as its sign says, in “music, invitations, Judaica and books.”

As Krausz told me, the shop always puts the spotlight on the current season and/or holiday, while also offering gift ideas and home accessories for the rest of the year.

She showed me quite a grouping of items for Passover, ranging from traditional accessories for the table:

to more playful items:

What I found so lovely was the shop carries things to commemorate special moments of life, from the birth of a child:

to a Bat or Bar Mitzvah:

to a wedding, from the glass that’s traditionally broken to items made with the shards:

There are items for use thoughout the home, some decorative, others for special blessings:

One of the nicest things I saw were the variety of charity boxes. Krausz told me they are made for children, to teach them early on about helping others, right through to the most highly decorative or symbolic:

And here is Krausz herself:

Hope to run the story on the shop next Thursday.

In the mean time, stop by the store’s Web site — or the store itself, at 1333B North Ave. Call 914-633-8508.
