Mary Shustack shops around

With flair…

May

I love over-the-top names for shopping events.

Why have a sale when you can have a blow-out?

Well, I’ve heard from Stephanie Leggio that her Tarrytown shop, Pretty Funny Antiques, is about to host its “Spring Extravaganza.”

I know I’m excited.

I’ve not just worked with Leggio over the past couple of years, I’m also a customer. Ha.

She has a great eye for vintage finds — and I just love her sense of style and sense of humor.

Both clearly come through in her choice of merchandise, the way she displays it and even the tags that describe some of the pieces.

The shop is now “stocked to the brim,” Leggio says.

There’s plenty of “spring furniture,” she adds, mentioning the garden benches and other pieces that fill the shop’s porch.

(That wraparound porch, by the way, is extra display space; the shop’s in a gorgeous old house, filling its main and lower-level rooms.).

The sale will also include lots of spring dresses, from the 1920s through the ‘40s.

“We are loaded,” Leggio tells me.

I am going, I tell her.

The sale will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Wednesday through Sunday, with late-night hours (to 8 p.m.) on Friday.

Pretty Funny Antiques is at 80 S. Broadway. Call 914-631-3368.

Just a quick update — I stopped by the “extravaganza” this afternoon.

You will want to make an effort to get there over the weekend.

Stephanie Leggio has an amazing array on display. I snatched up an adorable little vintage bag for just $10 and a brooch for $16 (marked down from $20).

And there’s a real sense of excitement that begins before you even get inside with the porch full of more merchandise than I’ve seen there before.

    Fun!
