There’s just something special about buying a work created by an artist.
It could be something you buy on an “open-studio” tour, at a crafts event — or simply at a gallery.
The Eclectic Collector in Katonah is a gallery that is filled with the creations of some 400 artists.
Just a few of the categories represented include glass, folk art, jewelry, dolls, journals and Judaica.
Talk about choices.
I’ve heard again from the gallery’s owner, Ellie Kimelman, that she has a special event planned.
It’s “A Trunk Full of Whimsy,” a trunk show this weekend.
Kimelman will be hosting James LeTerneau, an Illinois-based multi-media jewelry artist whose signature piece, “Hanging By a Thread,” is the gallery’s most popular item.
Also on hand will be Reina Mia Brill of City Island, who creates knitted wire and ceramic sculptures.
The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The gallery is at 215 Katonah Ave. Call 914-232-8700.
