Before I head off for my road trip to Brimfield, Mass., (going on a bus trip with some other antiques lovers later this morning to hit the famed antiques shows) I wanted to leave a quick post.
I’ve written a story on an exhibition that opens in Katonah this Sunday.
It scheduled for tomorrow’s Life & Style section, while also running here on LoHud.com.
The story takes a look at “A Journey in Maiolica: Italian Renaissance to American Contemporary,” which opens Sunday and continues through Dec. 19 at the House Museum of the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts.
I was on site last week for a preview tour. I just love visiting Caramoor, which got its start as the summer villa of Walter and Lucie Rosen. The world travelers (and collectors) have left such a lasting legacy:

Each year, the house museum devotes an exhibition to a particular aspect of the Rosens’ collections. This year, it’s Majolica (tin-glazed earthenware).
The exhibition includes both treasures from Caramoor’s own collection and a number of contemporary pieces, commissioned just for this event.
It’s really quite a tour… one that happily concludes at the gift shop (you knew I’d get to that!).
Be sure to pop in — it’s got a nice selection of merchandise:

And that includes some modern, Majolica-inspired pieces for the table:

Definitely worth a trip.
Caramoor’s at 149 Girdle Ridge Road. Call the museum at 914-232-5035, Ext. 221 or visit its Web site for complete exhibition hours and details.
And check back; next time I’m posting, it will be an update from the Brimfield adventure… our bus is due home somewhere around 10 p.m…
