Mary Shustack shops around

Always something new

You have to give credit to people who keep re-inventing themselves.

I was at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair at the Javits Center earlier today and stopped by the booth of Liora Manné.

She’s a New York-based designer with a second home in Katonah — I’ve written about her several times over the years and am always amazed at her endless creativity.

She’s a rug designer who’s branched out into tabletop, lighting, accessories… you name it.

Today, I stopped by her both at the show and saw these new rug designs:

Liora wasn’t on hand when I stopped by, but I had a nice chat with one of her interns, Andrea Fisher of Rye, who told me the rugs were the latest in the company’s “green” initiative.

See the holes? Well, the pieces that come out of them are incorporated into other designs, from lamp shades to … lots more.

Pretty clever.

The show was its usual inspiring mix of cutting-edge design:

It’s hard not to come away with dozens of decorating ideas — DIY, here I come!
