Not just soap and paper

I think my weekend “to-do” list just got a bit longer.
Signing onto my e-mail this morning brought me a note from Lisa Devogelear of one of my favorite local companies, The Soap & Paper Factory.
The company is a collaborative effort between Dewey Howard Papers and Brickhouse Soap, a combination that has produced some pretty stylish products ranging from soaps and candles to stationery and gift wrapping.
The two companies work out of the Garnerville Arts & Industrial Center, just having moved to a new space (in Building 24, Studio B).
The “factory” was busy creating their products, selling wholesale and online, but expanded into a retail shop in Nyack, one that I featured back in December.
Well, the e-mail let me know that the Soap & Paper Factory is indeed going to participate in the GAGA Arts Festival this weekend.
The GAGA Arts Festival, on the grounds of the Garnerville center, is a two-day event, featuring open studios, art exhibitions, children’s workshops, film, dance, live music and food.
It’s also the chance to see companies like the Soap & Paper Factory in their studio/workshop settings, which are usually not open to the public.
I had been thinking of going — I’ve been before, and it’s a great way to spend a day.
Now, there’s also the chance to check out, as Lisa said, “a fresh batch of lip butter and plenty other beautiful goodies for sale.”
Sounds pretty inviting.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine. Admission is $5, free for those under 14 accompanied by an adult.
The center is at 55 Railroad Avenue. Check out the Web link above for more details.

A quick update—-
Lisa of The Soap & Paper Factory just let me know that the retail shop in Nyack is also going to have its first-ever Warehouse Sale.
Plan to stop by the store, at 23 N. Broadway, on June 14 and 15 — where it’s a “two-fer weekend,” two products for the price of one.
How good does that sound?
