Mary Shustack shops around

Don’t forget Dad

June

I just remembered I have to stop and get a Father’s Day card, not to mention a gift.

It’s perfect timing, then, to have received an e-mail from The Outside in Piermont suggesting some gift ideas.

I wrote about the shop here before, and owners Joe Serra and Bill Walsh have sent me the following:

“Looking for gift ideas for Father’s Day? Check out these 10 unique items at The OUTSIDE IN Piermont.

CADDY BOOKENDS – Crafted by famous furniture maker and sculptor Steve Heller, these bookends feature a model 1960 cadillac.

CADDY LAMP/NIGHTLIGHT — Also by Steve Heller, these lamps include actual parts from vintage cadillacs of the ‘50s and ‘60s.
CIGAR BOXES — 2 boxes, one with a classic mustang emblem, the other with a vintage oldsmobile emblem, by Steve Heller.

DRIFTWOOD BIRDHOUSE – Crafted by Fred Rininsland, each birdhouse is completely unique, fashioned out of driftwood found off of the pier in Piermont.

CERAMIC BIRDFEEDER — These well designed birdfeeders are handcrafted by Nyack potter, Hugh Mac. Only one left.

BARNWOOD BENCH —Crafted by local furniture maker Bob Cooper, these benches are made from salvaged barnwood. Also available from Bob are sideboard tables, a cross-buck tavern table, an 1880s style shaving stand and various other pieces all made from re-cycled wood.

“TED’S HEADS” —Stone heads sculpted by 81 year old Ted Ludwiczak, of Haverstraw. Ted has become legendary for his heads reminiscent of Easter Island. Great for a garden or an indoor space.

COFFEE MUGS – A selection of unique coffee mugs by local potters.
SPEER & JACKSON GARDEN TOOLS – These high-end garden tools (spades, rakes, shovels) are of the highest quality and have life-time warranties.

PLANTERS – Wooden planters, by Nyack craftsman Bob Dillon. Each is unique and is great for a deck, patio, or other outdoor space.”

If you want to check it out, The OUTSIDE IN Piermont is at 249 Ferdon Ave. in Piermont.

It’s open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays and by chance.

Call 845-398-0706.
