Mary Shustack shops around

Notes from the road

June

Whew.

That’s how I’m feeling as I finally get settled in at my desk — today’s reporting took me to Briarcliff Manor, Peekskill, Cortlandt Manor, Mount Kisco, Yorktown Heights and Chappaqua.

It’s all for a story I’m doing on backyard parties that will appear in our Life & Style section (and here on LoHud.com) next week.

Not going to spill all the great finds… but I did want to share a couple of quick notes jotted down along the way.

First off, I stopped by one of my favorite shops, The Coop in Peekskill. It’s one of those “never-fail” spots — and I found out it’s just about to start summer hours.

The shop is now open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays (though it will stay open for the Friday-night shopping events in the city).

Also, it will be closed for vacation Aug. 25 through Sept. 3.

It’s always worth a trip — just wanted to give you the update, so you’re not disappointed by going on the off hours.

The Coop is at 103 S. Division St. Call 914-737-2194.

And later in my travels… spotted these beauties at Fairground Attraction in Mount Kisco:

These bracelets have that vintage look, but they are not.

They are made today, in plastic, by a company called City Craft.

Each is unique; some are hand-cut, as Nancy Gonzalez (who owns the shop with her sister Joan-Marie) told me.

And she added that thanks to a mention in a national magazine, they are SELLING, to women of all ages.

The prices start at $22 and go up to $52 (for a set of three bangles).

Just so pretty, don’t you think?

Fairground Attraction is at 145 E. Main St. Call 914-241-4433.
