More from the road

Today was another stop-at-some-shops morning… and early afternoon.
I wrapped up my search for great things for backyard parties, for the story I had mentioned yesterday.
My first stop today was at a shop I hadn’t had the chance to visit yet — and I’m so glad I finally did.
It’s Saffron Trading Company, at 5 S. Broadway in Nyack.
I’ve peeked in the windows of the three-month-old shop but it’s always been before or after hours for some reason or another.
Today, I was determined to pay a visit so ended up having an iced tea around the corner while I waited for the 11 a.m. opening.
I met Julia Dillon, the owner, and I found some really fun stuff for my story.
Now the hard part will be deciding between this chair and this oh-so-pretty stool (such a great color!).
Both would add an air of casual elegance to any party:

When you read the story next week, you’ll see which “won out.”
But as you can see just from those two pieces, the store has a definite style.
Here’s a quick look around the rest:

Stop by to explore all the shop carries — I’m hoping to return down the line, maybe for a “shop of the week” feature.
In the mean time, you can call Saffron Trading Company at 845-353-3530.
From Nyack, I headed to Larchmont to check in with Wendy Gee!, at 1949 Palmer Ave.
I’ve worked with Lee Rubin before — and the longtime shop owner was as welcoming as ever, suggesting so many great things that I could have done a story just on his merchandise for outdoor entertaining.
Anyway, I decided to go with some rush placemats and cotton napkins with gorgeous floral patterns.
They were just so pretty and unlike any of my other items:

And here’s just a bit more of what’s featured now at Wendy Gee!, perfect for inside or outdoor entertaining.
First up, here are some things to pick up if you want to go patriotic for the Fourth of July:

Then, the shop’s “signature” line of glasses and pillows from cat studio has increased with these great serving trays.
They’re just in — and selling very well, I was told.

I also loved the seashell-themed collection. I mean really loved these:

And if you crave that summertime burst of color, there are salad servers:

and those always-bright utensils from Sabre:

And then there were these faux flowers (just in, too) that look so real you’ll fool your guests:

The shop’s filled with so much more… perfect place to browse, to be sure.
So stop by — or call Wendy Gee! at 914-834-8507.
