Style, at any age

Style at any age is the concept behind Indigo Chic.

I quickly realized that when I stopped by the women’s clothing and accessories shop in New City on a recent afternoon and met the owners and buyers, the mother-daughter team of Lynda and Jessye Piscitelli. (Jessye’s on the left, below)

The shop, as you’ll see, reflects a certain attitude — chic-yet-comfortable clothes and cutting-edge accessories that can’t help but make a woman feel trendy.
There are pieces that seems like they could work equally well on 16-year-old like Jessye as on her 44-year-old mom (who shared her age without being asked).
Take a quick look around:

The women, who are joined in ownership by Joe Piscitelli (the dad/husband of the family), opened up the boutique in March.
It’s the second venture of the same name for the family, which has been running the original Indigo Chic in Cold Spring since 2006.
While the family now lives in Dutchess County, Lynda and Joe Piscitelli both grew up in Rockland.
“Twenty three years later we came back to our hometown,” Lynda Piscitelli says, noting she’s from Nanuet and Joe is from New City.
In the interim, the family lived in Paris for four years, honing an edgy style that’s reflected in the boutique’s hardwood floors, glittering chandeliers and an oversize clock.
It all offers a sophisticated setting for an Ed Hardy backpack ($229) sporting rhinestone red hearts and a turquoise Juicy Couture jacket ($98).

“Everyone loves Juicy,” says Jessye Piscitelli.
There are plenty of other designer pieces, from Free People to True Religion. Jeans, which also include Citizens of Humanity, 7 For All Mankind and other brands, range from $99 to $260.
The shop also carries a variety of belts and caps, bags and jewelry.

Prices run the gamut, designed to have broad appeal.
Take a cape-like wrap; one is $166, with another (below) $36.

Tops — there are all kinds of glittery options in various styles — continue to sell well. A young woman could wear it out to the clubs; an older woman on a Saturday-night dinner date.

For fall, the Piscitellis predict women will be wearing pencil skirts, pieces with men’s tailoring and lots of layering.
“Purple is the big color,” Lynda Piscitelli says.
She’s also expecting to sell plenty of tie-dyed pieces, leather coats, plaid items, boots and capes.

It’s all about, she says, “creative, fun clothing.”
For any age.
Indigo Chic is at 286 S. Main St. in New City. Call 845-634-2646.
Thanks for checking out this “sneak peek” of Indigo Chic. The shop will be featured in the Life & Style section of The Journal News and here on LoHud.com on Sept. 15.
This coming Monday’s devoted to Pink on Palmer (remember my visit there?) — but I’m on vacation next week so did my Indigo Chic visit a bit in advance.
I’ll be back on the 15th.
Shop well without me!
