Mary Shustack shops around

Monday morning… and all week

November

It’s almost time for the last Casafina warehouse sale of the year — and this one sounds like it’s going to be memorable.

It’s going to run from Monday through Dec. 7, a full week, at Casafina in Brewster — and for the first time, the merchandise is going to be marked down another 50 percent off its lowest sale price.

I stopped by on Wednesday for a sneak peek.

I featured Casafina in a story I did this spring about warehouse sales in our area and have been keeping up on their special events since.

Casafina is the tabletop and gift company that’s run by Samuel and Donna Smith. They took over the company some 20 years ago and built it into a major importer of European tableware, selling the goods via wholesale.

A few times each year, the company opens its doors and lets the public in to shop its overstocks and slightly imperfect merchandise, with most prices reflecting a discount of 50 to 80 percent off retail.

The sales also feature a variety of goods brought in just for the sale, items from companies Casafina deals with and assorted finds picked up on buying trips overseas (everything from garden goods to furniture to jewelry).

So, here’s a look at what you’ll find come Monday morning, starting with this soup tureen.

It started at a sale price of $70, then to $58 and now will be half of that… $29. Can’t you picture that on your holiday table?

Here’s a glance around some other wares, keeping in mind that where you see a price you will — yes — pay half of that:

If you like things a bit more contemporary, check out these selections (yes, these funky shaped plates will be $3 each):

And there are other shapes, too:

There are plenty of gift ideas, too, such as these hand-painted items:

Just look at this ottoman tray — dramatic, don’t you think?

And why not go to a party, bring the chips and dip — and give your hostess the plate to keep?

As I mentioned, there are some other goods, such as this furniture, bath accessories and even something for the family pet:

And if you need to buy several gifts but money’s way tight, what about these salt-and-pepper shakers? Yours for $2.50:

That was — only — a glimpse into what will be featured. There’s plenty …

I’m thinking you might be planning to stop by, right?

If so, the hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Casafina is at 301 Fields Lane in Brewster, easily accessible from exit 8 of I-684.

For more details, visit the company Web site or call 845-277-5700.
