Regrets… I’ve had a few

December
31

Yes, it’s that time of year… you know, taking stock, making resolutions and all that.

Have you made any shopping resolutions for 2009?

I’ve probably said this before, but I really am going to try to be more thoughtful in my shopping/spending in the new year.

I tend to follow the “too much is never enough” school of thought… and really, while it can be fun to get caught up in a shopping whirl — LOTS of fun, actually — it’s not always the smartest way to be.

Let alone the money spent (and I’m not dismissing that aspect of it by any means), it’s about realizing how much do I really need.

Honestly, not that much — and I know how lucky I am to be able to say that.

I have filled more than one bag with donations for my favorite thrift shop with things I just “had to have” until I eventually realized, um, no I didn’t.

They’ve ranged from heels I knew would be too high (but bought anyway) to baggies full of costume jewelry to roll after roll of wrapping paper … they were so cheap, why not buy a bunch?

Like so many others, I’ll be one whose January’s going to be filled with the urge to organize, to clean, to purge and pare down.

Wish me luck… and keep your eye on those thrift shops — I expect to be unloading even more stylish finds in coming weeks!

And finally, a happy, healthy new year — one filled with thoughtful shopping (and the occasional splurge, of course) — to all of you.
