Mary Shustack shops around

If I ruled the (shopping) world…

January

Haven’t you, at least once, said to yourself “If this were my shop, I’d feature…”

Well, Debbie Zapakin and Lori Weil of Wishes in Yorktown Heights are kind of giving you that opportunity.

And you don’t have to worry about that pesky ownership thing.

See, they are asking you what you’d like to see in the boutique in coming months as they are about to head off to the trade shows and buying markets.

Of course, customers have come to know Wishes for its collection of decorative accessories for the home and fashion accessories, jewelry and the like — but the owners are always looking to do more, Zapakin says

If you’ve seen things on your travels, you’d like to find locally — let them know.

If you have ideas of things you’d like to find in stock for spring (and beyond) — items suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, graduations, etc. — let them know.

As Zapakin said just now when I gave her a quick call, “We figure ‘why not?’” she says. “We’re going shopping anyway.”

And they’re happy to add your suggestions to their shopping list.

Call 914-962-9474 or send your thoughts to debbiezapakin@optonline.net.

Wishes, at 315 Kear St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and to 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
