Memorable moments

I’m just back from an interview with Robert Brissette, who creates framed works through his company, The Keepsake Collage.

It was a kick to walk through his Larchmont living room and see a photograph featuring Ronnie Wood out of the corner of my eye.

I knew Brissette had a background in the music business and soon learned that he was not only a professional bassist and singer — he also worked in marketing, specifically on collaborations between the entertainment industry and corporations.

“I was the guy who used to be able to talk to ‘the suits’ and talk to ‘the haircuts,’” he says.

And those “haircuts” he worked with — depicted in a number of snapshots — included the rest of the Rolling Stones. Brissette also has pictures with Elton John, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Phil Collins and Shania Twain.

Ok, enough of the brush with celebrity… I was really there to learn about The Keepsake Collage.

The company features Brissette hand-crafting framed pieces that commemorate a particular day or event, ranging from births to bar and bat mitzvahs to weddings.

Brissette works with a customer to find out about the recipient. Say it’s a wedding. He has a questionnaire to find out more about the couple.

From there, he scours papers of that day and pulls headlines that help capture a moment in time.

“It’s kind of a snapshot of what was going on in the world,” he says.

Here’s Brissette, being shot by my friend and colleague Tania Savayan:

And here’s a few details of the pieces:

I’m doing a story for early next week on Brissette and The Keepsake Collage. Look for it in the Life & Style section of The Journal News and here on LoHud.com.

In the mean time, you can contact Brissette at ChezRB@aol.com for more details.
