New dealers are what’s new about this weekend’s 39th annual Bedford Hills Antiques Show, set for Saturday and Sunday at Fox Lane High School.
The lineup is some 60 dealers strong and that includes new dealers to the show such as Michele Fox American Antiques in Grandview, who will display vintage textiles, linens, tablecloths, blankets and Bakelite jewelry.

The new David Yurman boutique in The Westchester is all about the special events.
Just last week, I hear the tony jewelry shop hosted a shopping event to benefit the Hillside Food Outreach.
The organization provides food to those in need in both Westchester and Putnam counties.

I’ve heard the new David Tutera show is a blast.
The celebrity party planner is the host of “My Fair Wedding”, which airs Sunday nights on WEtv.
This weekend, though, the Port Chester native will jump from the small screen to the local scene — for a bridal-themed event in White Plains.

I spent a little time Saturday morning at the inaugural Valentine’s Vintage Show and Sale, held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tarrytown.
I was looking forward to it, especially since I had written about it last week after the bit of a sneak preview I had courtesy of Bedford dealer Elaine Klausman.
It turned out to be a really good-looking show from Vivien Cord of Armonk — booth after booth filled with vintage dresses and pocketbooks, earrings, brooches and hats.
I love getting lost in boxes filled with floral accents. Some are pins; others, I think, are scraps from millinery. But I’ve learned to take it easy. Too many times, I’ve picked up a handful, brought them home and never know what to do with them.
This time, I decided to shop a bit smarter… all the way around. Read more of this entry »

It’s easy to get lost inside Pop Vintage — in a good way.

Although the six-month-old boutique in Bedford Hills is only about 900 square feet, most every inch is filled with vintage-inspired finds that can keep you browsing for ages.

I’ve heard about a special shopping event that’s under way in Piermont.
Mercedes Ross, owner of Gee, Ginger!, told me that not only is it Valentine’s Day this weekend, but February is also “Mend a Broken Heart Month.”
So she and some other Piermont shopkeepers got together — “We said ‘Come out and celebrate either one.’”
Celebrate by taking advantage of 15-percent discounts off merchandise through Sunday in participating shops throughout the village.
And you’ll know who’s participating by looking for the red banner outside each of those destinations.
Fun idea.

I had an interview up in Bedford Hills yesterday afternoon and afterwards, popped into Suburban Groove to say hi to Rhea Russo.
I featured her shop here back in November, if you recall.
She’s got a great, outgoing personality, reflected in all her funky finds.
Well, when I stopped in yesterday, one of the first things she told me was “The Naughty Nook’s here.”

I’ve just found out yet another local shop is indeed carrying Joli Jewelry.
I hope you had a chance to see my story on Jody Lyons and her company, Joli Jewelry, that was featured in the Life & Style section (and here on LoHud.com) over the weekend.
Lyons is a designer with a studio in Brooklyn and second home in Cold Spring. Her work is known for the way she incorporates vintage materials and bold colors for limited-edition pieces that are showing up in more and more local shops.

I’ve just heard some exciting news from Beth Grubaugh, one of the owners of The Soap & Paper Factory.
I’ve long admired the Rockland-based company’s products and followed its progress over the last few years.
The company’s soaps, bath salts and lotions are complemented by greeting cards and wrapping papers — all sharing a real sense of style.

I’ve not been to a good antiques show in awhile, which makes me very excited about an event making its debut in Tarrytown this weekend.
It’s the Valentine’s Vintage Fashion Show and Sale, to be held Saturday and Sunday at the DoubleTree Hotel.
I wrote a story about the debut — it’s in today’s Life & Style section and elsewhere here on LoHud.com.
For the story, I had the chance to meet dealer Elaine Klausman, whose company is called Vintage With a Twist.
