Indian treat

I’ve just heard about a special event planned for East India Designs in Bronxville later this week:
“MEHNDI-HENNA BODY ART
THURSDAY, MARCH 26 4PM – 7PM
Mehndi is the traditional timeless art form of henna body painting for festive occasions. In India, it is a way for a bride and groom to get to know one another before an arranged marriage. Intricate patterns are typically applied. The groom’s name is sometimes written somewhere within the bride’s mehndi; if he cannot find it within the intricate design, the bride is said to have the control in the marriage. A dark mehndi design signifies that the two will have a strong relationship. Even the queen of Sheba adorned herself with henna before meeting Solomon. Mehndi has been popularized by musicians and Hollywood personalities.”
Sounds interesting — and fun, so why not stop by?
I loved the shop when I first visited last spring. Click here for my photo tour from then.
The shop’s at 3 Pondfield Road, in Bronxville.
