Mary Shustack shops around

Charitable effort

April

Not sure why, but I’ve had a lot of jewelry-related news coming my way this week.

Here’s a bit more —

I’ve heard about a really interesting effort involving local jewelry designer Mauri Pioppo.

My friend and colleague Heather Salerno has written about the Bedford woman and her work over the years, and she told me about one of Pioppo’s latest efforts.

It’s working with an organization called Leaves of Change and marks a collaboration between a celebrity and a jewelry designer that results in an original piece of jewelry that gives 100 percent back to a charity of choice.

Pioppo worked with actors Lena Olin and Eric McCormack.

Check it out — the online auction continues through May 7.
