Mary Shustack shops around

Road trip!

April
30

I have heard about a new shop that sounds almost too good to be true.

It’s the first Big Buddha Store in America and is located just over the Rockland border in Englewood, N.J.

I love Big Buddha bags; I have a couple and they never fail to draw the compliments (and work really well for me, too).

The best is that they feature that “designer look” but sell for less than $100, usually in the $60 to $80 range.

I’ve bought them from Grand View in Nyack, and our spring-fashion preview featured the brand’s Julia bag, as sold in Helen’s Handbags in New City.

When I heard about a whole store dedicated to the brand, you know I got excited.

Yes, I’ll share the details — it’s at 24 N. Dean St. (201-569-4555).

I spoke briefly to the owner, Patrice, earlier today. The shop’s been open a few weeks and been warmly welcomed.

In addition to the bags, she told me the merchandise is rounded out by other accessories such as scarves ($18) and jewelry, starting at $5 and topping out around $25.

Think you have to agree this is destination-shopping in the making.

With  my schedule, I can’t get there til later next week, but I promise a full report here.

And if you happen to get there before me, I’ll be jealous, of course, but hope you’ll share the juicy details.
