Mary Shustack shops around

In the Cottage

May

Holbrook Cottage in Briarcliff Manor is always having special sales, events and promotions.

I just got a mailing from the charming shop, which features a couple of next month’s activities. (If you’ve not been before, click here for a profile I wrote on the shop last year).

One that immediately caught my eye from this “June in the Cottage” postcard was a feature that’s ideal for those who can’t always make it to their favorite shops during the week.

Holbrook Cottage will remain open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays in June, offering hors d’oeuvres and drinks from 5 to 7 p.m. “Stop on your way home,” it says — and it sounds like a great idea.

Also, the seasonal Farmer’s Market that Holbrook owner Sue Bicksler-Taub runs right outside her shop’s front door will resume June 2. It will be open Thursdays and Fridays through September.

The shop is also putting the spotlight on a selection of goods ideal for outdoor living. Just a few of these include citronella candles in iron stands ($25), lanterns ($28 to $42) and a really cute collapsible picnic basket ($44).

Sign up for the shop’s mailing list and newsletters to receive updates on all the events — including special discount cards and notices.

Holbrook Cottage is at 1251-53 Pleasantville Road. Call 914-944-0734.
