A shift in focus

June
30

I checked in with Milieu this past week.

I’ve written about Danielle Iaboni’s shop several times before. She has been offering all kinds of home-decorating items, from large furniture to smaller gift items, with a focus on European finds.

Well, I found out that there’s been a bit of a shift — Milieu is now offering primarily goods from Indonesia, particularly Bali.

Sounds interesting, and I’m looking forward to stopping by.

Have you been? Milieu is at 157 Mamaroneck Ave. in Mamaroneck. Call 914-315-6090.

Triple Sweet update

June
30

It was back in April when I met Elka Raved and wrote a story about the Larchmont woman and her jewelry company.

Frustrated by her young daughter losing her earrings, she thought that it would be cool to be able to buy earrings in “3s,” always having a spare on hand.

Well, Raved did more than just think — Read more of this entry »

There’s a real handful of markets, festivals and outdoor shows set for this weekend.

Here are just a few you might want to keep in mind, a couple of which I’ve written up to be featured in our LoHud Weekend magazine on Thursday. Read more of this entry »

Market on the way

June
30

I didn’t get a chance to post a few of my photos that I took the other day when I met with Andrew Poma Jr.

He’s nearing the completion of quite a transformation — carving Old World Food Market out of a onetime car dealership on Route 59 in Nyack.

In-store event

June
30

If you’re a music fan, a Yankees fan (or both), you might want to head to Borders in Mount Kisco tonight.

Bernie Williams is set to appear, promoting his new release, “Moving Forward.”

My friend and colleague Jorge Fitz-Gibbon beat me to writing up the details, so I’ll just link you to his music blog, The Listening Room.

Sounds like a fun evening.

Passport not required

June

I have a fun story that’s set to run in the Life & Style section, and also here on LoHud.com, on Sunday.

The premise is that with the economy the way it is today, some people are finding their summer-travel plans have been dramatically scaled back.

We’re going to show you how to take a virtual tour of Europe — without leaving Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties. Read more of this entry »

Earlier this month I told you about a “driveway sale” in Piermont, when local artist (and chef) Phyllis Segura was going to be selling her art. Read more of this entry »

Brighten your day

June
26

What a pretty picture I’ve received from Pam Older.

She’s a Larchmont-based jewelry designer, who sells her works at boutiques, special events and through her Web site, Pam Older Designs.

Here’s just a selection of what she says are “Little things for summer. We all need a little sunshine!”

I have to agree —

Shop online, as linked above, or call Older at 914-834-2472 for custom orders.
