Mary Shustack shops around

For a good cause

If you want to ease any guilt about shopping (these days it’s even harder to justify the “more is more” philosophy), there’s a benefit event later this week in Manhattan you might like to know about.

The DIVAS Shop for Opera event will match up “high notes and high-end fashion,” allowing you to shop from a selection of deeply discounted merchandise — valued at more than one million dollars — donated by a (very) long list of designers.

Among those participating is noted designer Carmen Marc Valvo, who you may know grew up in Port Chester. Here’s one of his stunning gowns:

Shoppers will also find creations by Alice + Olivia, Dolce & Gabbana, Tamsen Z by Ann Ziff, MacKenzie-Childs, Oscar de la Renta, Nanette Leopore, Prada Rubin Singer, Chado Ralph Rucci, Tuleh, DKNY, Luca Luca and more.

The event will get under way at 5 p.m. Wednesday with a VIP shopping preview, followed by general shopping from 6 to 10 p.m. in a special City Opera “Pop Up Shop” at 717 Madison Ave. (between 64th and 65th streets).

Benefit tickets range from $75 to $300.

All proceeds from the evening fund the design and creation of costumes for New York City Opera productions.

For more details, including ticket purchasing, call the special events line of the opera at 212-870-5622.

Following the benefit evening, the Pop Up Shop will be open for three days. Shop from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
