A different kind of sale

June
23

Weekends seem made for a slower-paced kind of shopping.

You usually have the chance to poke around a bit, not rush in and out of a store on the way home from work, etc.

I received an update from our Rockland office about an opportunity to shop for unusual home accessories that is going on every Sunday [...]

Sample sale

June
20

I’ve just heard about a sample sale that’s scheduled for tomorrow in Nyack.

My friend and colleague Amy Vernon forwarded me the details, which I’m passing along.

If I hear anything more, I’ll add an update — but it sounds pretty interesting, to be sure.

Do you crave a vintage Chanel bag?

Maybe it’s just the name or the way it adds that classic touch to an outfit. Maybe it’s just because your favorite celebrity has one.

There is a way to get one without spending hours searching through the local consignment and vintage shops or antiques shows.

You can turn to [...]

Going to the dogs

I never thought I’d know this, but I can tell you where to find an organic dog treat in the shape of a cannoli.

Buy a little, help a lot

Ever feel guilty when you go shopping?

Feel you’ve bought too much for yourself, etc.

Well, there’s an event going on this afternoon (and tomorrow) that will help put those feelings to rest.

In Briarcliff

June
18

Sounds like there’s going to be some good shopping in Briarcliff Manor later this week.

I got an update from Holbrook Cottage, the gourmet, home and gift shop at 1251-53 Pleasantville Road, telling me that there’s to be a “Sidewalk Sale” sponsored by the Briarcliff Merchants Association.

Expect some good deals from participating shops along Pleasantville Road, [...]

Moving on

June

I’ve heard from Jennifer Leonard, the owner of that super-stylish Bedford Hills shop called Jenesaisquoi Home.

Well, she’s soon to close the store and move to California.

It’s a loss, to be sure, on the home-design front — but it’s not over yet…

Going to be catching up on a couple of postings this afternoon, as I was off yesterday and have some shopping news to share.

First up, just wanted to let you know that Madelynrose in Pearl River is having a half-price sale starting on Friday.

Status symbol?

June

I’ve really gotten into the habit of carefully looking over my receipts after I come home from a shopping trip.

Most often, I admit, it’s to check out how much I saved.

Recently, though, I picked up two pairs of earrings in my local Macy’s.

City style — New York and New Rochelle

June
13

You’ve got to admire a boutique that manages to combine “city chic” with low-key comfort.

That’s what I was thinking when I visited The Clothesline in New Rochelle yesterday.
